Asking about trusting yourself is an important inquiry that can lead to self-reflection and deeper self-awareness. Answer the following questions reflectively in your journal. These questions apply to you as a person but can also be used in the classroom with students.
1. Have you ever struggled with trusting yourself? Jot down a time when you didn’t trust yourself at some point in your life. How did you overcome it?
2. Have you struggled with self-doubt and second-guess your decisions? Write a line or two about this and how you resolved the issue.
3. Write about a time when intuition led you to an answer. Were you surprised?
4. Have you ever closed your eyes and became quiet as you reflected on a situation that required trusting yourself?
After answering the questions above, take a short break to reflect on what you have written. If you are working individually, add any additional notes that may have come to mind. If performing this exercise in a group, have another member of the study group share their answers as you listen without judgment, and then you do the same.
