In middle school, an English teacher had us write a news article as an assignment. We were to answer key questions at the beginning of the article such as who, what, when, where, and why. Currently, my personal news article is a story of change while keeping in step with my values as a teacher, mentor, and lifelong learner.

My resolve is great, and I am determined to redefine who I am. I am learning, applying, and fine-tuning the person that I have learned to be so that I can continue to benefit our future, our children. Why am I determined to do this and share with others how I intend to follow through? Our society needs this. We need this. Here… and now.

I have enjoyed, no… Strike that…. I have LOVED being a teacher and have grown as a person with the guidance I have given my students within the classroom. I now want to make a difference on a larger scale.

Now that I am older, I feel confined within the walls of educational dogma as it is now provided and it is time to help students become the best they can be. I am committed to assisting our children personally, as well as, through their schools.

Through the schools? I want to assist the administration and teachers in becoming more mindful of their actions. I want to show them how to implement values lessons and immerse these lessons into the curriculum and I want to help them become more resilient through reflection. Individually and as a larger institution.

How do I know that I can do this?
- I have an unwavering determination to achieve my goals as I enjoy this challenge. I am committed and dedicated to seeing this happen despite any difficulties I may experience.

- I am determined to find a way to become part of the solution. Our students need us to put them first and healthily guide them to become resilient so that they can solve their own issues as they erupt during life.

- My character is firm, and I know that I have the inner strength and fortitude to stay steadfast and resolute in the face of this new challenge. This is not an adversity I must overcome; it is a challenge. A challenge I am choosing to learn from as I become the best person I can be – in order to help our students become the best people they can be.

I am and will play a larger role in developing our children into more kind, compassionate, respectful, trustworthy, and resilient human beings. My resolve encompasses determination, decisiveness, strength of character, and the ability to bring about solutions as I work towards redefining my future to support our future. Our children.
