I’ve been thinking… Actually, living…. A change in my career and my mindset.

I’m learning to be resilient and work towards learning how to healthily regulate emotions through the regular practice of self-reflection, self-compassion, and meditation. As a result I’m more easily learning from my mistakes and failures and can move on to a new level of self-awareness.

What Is Resilience?
Resilience is the ability to adjust, rebound, and recover from adversity. It is reformation in the face of hardship, trauma, tragedy, or major causes of stress. It's the ability to recover from obstacles, setbacks, or difficulties and to keep one's composure in the face of trouble. Resilience is having the strength and stamina to deal with life’s challenges as they arise with grace and dignity.

In order to be resilient, we must be willing to address stress, not avoid it. Since stress and adversity can be fluid, our resiliency must follow suit. While resiliency may be a natural reaction to stress for some people, there are those of us who have to work at it. Resiliency can be cultivated, as it is a result of following our sets of beliefs and values, and it can be enhanced through regular practice and mindfulness activities.

Since stress and adversity can be fluid, true resiliency follows suit by being open to the ebb and flow of life and its rollercoaster of experiences. How does someone successfully maneuver through compromising situations that life flings at them? How does someone learn from their negative experiences and use those experiences to grow into a better person? Is this a superhero power only available to the mindful few?
