A decision has been made and I’m leaving public education as a high school teacher. It is my last day with students in this form of education and it feels a bit bittersweet, but more sweet than bitter because I have a plan.

It is a plan to move forward as I’m forming my own company to help students learn to learn and I’m excited about the process and prospects.

Yes, I can be truthful, humorous, and passionate as a person and education, even if I’m not in a public high school classroom. Yes, I can be the person that I have grown into, without hundreds of teenage eyes staring at me each day and YES, I can be happy without being in a classroom each day.

This has been a struggle and a challenge, but as a person who helps students learn how to learn in a mindful values-driven way as a learning coach, I feel I can make an even bigger impact. If one student that I’ve helped shares what they have learned with me, and that person shares with others, then the movement can grow, and more students can be impacted throughout our nation and our world.

Values-based education is the future of education, but the modern classroom is not ready for it yet, so I will individually train and teach students how to determine their own values and how to apply those values daily. Each and every day!

I’ve loved and plan on continuing to love, each and every student that I’ve taught and those that I will impact in some way. This love that I share is nonjudgemental and unconditional, and will always be that way.
